The Mum Diaries

This morning around 2am Violet climbed into our bed came into our room, This isn’t unusual as she is a semi frequent visitor these days. Usually I would pick her up and take her back to bed but seeing as I had only gone to bed at 12 I was too lazy to do so and I let her crawl in. A little while later Violet threw up in our bed  but I couldn’t see anything so I thought I must have been dreaming until I saw her chewing something in her mouth very similar to that of what a cat would do after it barfs.

So I picked her up and took her to the bathroom to wash her off and then went back to the bedroom to clean up the sheets. It was only a teeny little spew {she had eaten the rest} so I did a quick wipe and put a towel over the bed and told myself I would wash the sheets in the morning. I went back to the bathroom to find Violet wasn’t there anymore…she was now running around the lounge room butt naked like she was ready to start a brand new day.

It was 3am and I wasn’t ready to start a new day so I picked her up, put a nappy on her, placed her in bed and rolled over to go to sleep so she wouldn’t try and play with me.  And then it happened again and again and then once more for good measure but this time she didn’t have much food in her stomach and she wasn’t even waking up so I would clean her up, lay down a new towel and go back to bed.

This morning she woke and was her happy self. She had breakfast, ran around the house and seemed like her usual crazy self. The sent the big kids off to school along the bike track all by themselves, just in case I wasn’t risking a public spew contest.

At morning tea I gave her a biscuit. She took one bite and then vomited all over the floor in front of her and smiled.  Over it by now I put her in the shower and then drier her off and the first thing she did was ask for another biscuit. I guess it’s a good thing she hasn’t lost her appetite.

A few hours have passed and after a few cuddles on the couch Violet is now happily sleeping in her bed and my house has this truly disgusting smell of spew. I’m off to find the eucalyptus and clean the house because today..this is what motherhood looks like and it isn’t pretty.
