Our eldest daughter Effie turned 10 last Thursday. It’s hard to believe it has been 10 whole years since I first became a mother and she first entered our world.
When I look back at those first days, so young, so full of hope, I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into.
Each day I put one foot in front of the the other, surviving each day as it came and 10 years on and I think we’ve done a pretty good job.
This, was a day to celebrate. We had survived.
Effie opted for a sleep over with three of her special friends (and Josceline) so I spent Thursday in town picking up party supplies and putting together some really exciting good bags.
On her birthday she declared it was the best day of her life. She was having pancakes for breakfast, taking cake to school to share wit her friends, she of so many awesome presents and she was having lasagna for dinner. Oh yes, it was an exciting day.
The girls were to start their night at the school disco. We curled her hair and I couldn’t believe just how old she looked and then they were all set to go.
Violet wasn’t invited but she made the cutest little pirate and really wanted to join in the fun.
The school disco was followed by party food and movies and lots of giggling and in the morning when all was done and dusted we handed out goodie bags that were met with squels of delight and sent them on their way.
The party was a total success if I do say so myself and Effie, well she was one happy little vegemite

Naaaaw. This is perfect. It does my head in a little that you have a 10 year old. TEN! Wow. And she’s so beautiful, you guys are going to have your hands full fending off those suitors in a few years time. Haha.
