I’m not a very good housewife, I really hate cleaning and my house will never be perfect. Most mornings it sits like this until I find the motivation to clean or venture into the kitchen and can’t find any bench space. Violet is like a walking, talking tornado so unless somebody is coming over I usually let her go wild until it’s 3:30-4pm and I will kick the kids outside to pack everything away and give it a quick clean.
Luigi knows not to come home before 4pm or his in for a bit of a shock. I honestly wouldn’t call it messy..I think the correct word would be lived in.
So tell me. What does your house look like right now? Do you live in a perfectly clean house or is yours a little bit messy too? How about a schedule, how does cleaning work in your household?

My home is about the same, the living room still with balloons & birthdays around the walls, toys or the dinning table. Her room with just an unmade bed & our room with his clothes on the floor.

I have always described my house as clean but not always tidy.
I’ve usually got piles throughout the house of just…crap.
It’ll never look like something out of a magazine, but it has those touches you can’t fake. Like a trail of biscuit crumbs here, and a scattering of toys out of place there, a dumped handbag, and random shit where you least expect it.

Usually pretty bad, but the messier it is, the crankier I am, so I -try- to stay on top of things. But I would be cleaning up one mess, and they would just be making another mess in a different room. The boys love a blank canvas it seems, so when I do finally relent and clean up their rooms (only usually when we have visitors staying), they are drawn to it like a moth to flame and take great pleasure in messing it up again.

My house isn’t dirty but it certainly isn’t designer clean either. It’s very much a lived in house. I *hate* cleaning and I usually vac up about once a week, sometimes once a fortnight however with a puppy currently trashing the house, I’ve found that I vac up every couple of days – dude she TRASHES the place! How can something so small make SO much mess is what I want to know!
I believe that life is too short to spend too much time worrying about how clean and tidy our houses are!
Btw – yours looks MORE than fine!

I feel like if my kitchen isn’t clean my house isn’t, so that’s always a priorty. I clean my floors twice a week now, which is the days that I look after my nephew who is crawling. But apart from that, as much as I used to be a clean freak (pre-children), I now can’t find the motivation!

Oh Danielle … my house when I was working full time would stay ‘relatively’ clean. Hubby works from home and he would do the mad dash at 5pm before I got home to make the bed and do the dishes from his day but now that we are both at home I am cleaning EVERY day. I vacuumed ad mopped last night and then this morning I was picking things up off the floor. I am not looking forward to when Sophie starts walking … it will only get worse.
Each day I promise myself that the house will be tidy AND clean and cupboards will get a spring clean but only small amounts get done each day so not all rooms are clean on the same day!!
I am OCD and I get way too anxious about ‘things’ being left all over the place !!

I quite like the mess/clean ratio in our house, but Luke is always really embarrased to have people over, because he thinks it’s messy. My mil won’t visit cause it’s too cluttered… so who knows?! None of my friends or my family have a problem with it, so I think it’s just them being weird.

We all have our own levels of mess don’t we. Luigi is a little bit anal because he is allergic to dust mites but what can we do. We live in the bush!

I am a terrible housewife right now. Everything is done when it desperately needs to be done. There’s a lot going on in our lives right now, and I’m ok with a little mess. Even when I’m on top of things I generally don’t bother tidying up the house until late afternoon either. What’s the point when you’ve got a little tornado in the house, who uses 324 dishes a day, right?

At least your floors are clean. I can handle almost everything else- I’ve finally gotten into a habit where I do the dishes every night, and put the kids toys back where they belong, and I do a quick sweep…but my tiles always need mopping, and I always leave them until they are really sticky and gross and horrible. Must stop this.
