Kidspot Top 50: 21 hours in Sydney

When I started my little blog back in 2006 I had no idea how much I would get out of my blog and where it would take me. I was a bored navy wife sitting at home with my baby and I had no idea that a few years later the Australian blogosphere would explode and I would get a chance to meet so many  amazing, like minded people who just “get it”

My blog has opened so many doors for me and made my life this big ball of excitement and I really hope I just keep writing forever. Everyday I look forward to opening up my laptop and sharing a small snippet of my life with you because “you” have watched me grow, you’ve supported me through the good and the bad and waking up to “you” each day makes my life great.

A few weeks ago I received word that I had been selected into the Kidspot Top 50 Bloggers for the second year in a row {go me} so on Wednesday morning I dropped my kids off with our lovely neighbour and made my way to town to catch the first flight out for a whirlwind trip to Sydney.

The weather was perfect for flying and while I watched the clouds fly by I set my laptop up and managed to catch up on once upon a time and watch the larry crown affair.

20120330-155840.jpg

Danimezza picked me up and we drove through the streets of Sydney in search of our hotel.

20120330-155937.jpg

I attended the launch of the competition and spent most of the evening hiding at the side of the room gas bagging with the lovely Corrie from Retro Mummy.

20120330-160004.jpg

And Katrina from The Block {and so many more}

20120330-160033.jpg

I went down the longest escalator ever with Danimezza

20120330-160108.jpg

And then Katrina, Crash, Suger and I did a midnight run to McDonald’s in Kings Cross. I saw a man wearing a lovely pair of red heels and admired how great his legs looked. We then wandered back to Suger’s hotel room and hung out like we were old friends because..that’s what bloggers do.

20120330-160128.jpg

I had an amazing breakfast with Caitlin and Suger at Petrol

20120330-160203.jpg

Doesn’t Suger just look so happy.

20120330-160238.jpg

And sat on a train that smelled like a toilet. This is how I remember Sydney.

20120330-160309.jpg

Suger and I hung at the airport for four whole hours

20120330-160333.jpg

20120330-160344.jpg

And ran into Brenda and Grace on their way to the Digital Parents Conference in Melbourne.

And then finally..it was time to go home.

As part of the competition I have the chance to take home some seriously awesome prizes including a flight to New York to attend the ultimate blogging conference, BlogHer 2012 in August this year! The prize includes return flights, five nights accommodation (staying at the swanky New York Hilton hotel), full access to BlogHer (which runs 2 August – 4 August), plus $750 spending money!!! How cool is that and if I win I will also be   driving around in a brand spanking new Ford Territory for a year! Can you imagine how many awesome road trips we could take in that. I’m planning them in my head already.

AND

Don’t worry there is something in it for you too..simply by voting you have the chance to win $5000 cold hard cash! Perhaps we can join forces and go on a massive blogger road trip.

I’m not going to push for votes but if Hello Owl just happens to be your favourite blog in the world and you see yourself rolling around in $5000 then why don’t you click on this link and vote for me. Because who knows we could both walk away with some really cool prizes.

Damn I hate that maccas photo, SO unattractive. Sigh. Moving on!

Great post, and a fab wrap up of the amazing {and way too short} time in Sydney. I’m thinking, I’ll probably pinch some of your pics, because I took 10 total. You are the easiest travel buddy, you rock.

Good luck lovely, you would certainly road trip the heck out of that car!

Was that seriously your hotel? Sydney didn’t put much of a show on for you, poor thing. Trains! Ugh.
