We left the house at 4.30 and drove out to the junction to pick up my Luigi. Andy and Rowena were up from brisbane so we moved the big girls in the back so we could all squeeze in. My car was almost on empty so I drove next door to the servo to fill it up. There was a man hogging the diesel pump so I waited and waited…Luigi went into the shops and this guy was still mucking around so I waited some more. Luigi came back and we couldn’t be bothered waiting anymore so we decided to fill up in the morning and head home.
We were dropping Andy and Rowena off at the pub so I started to slow down and take the middle entry into town off the main road. There was a car coming towards us and I probably could have made it but I wasn’t comfortable with the distance so I waited for the next gap. I sat there patiently waiting for the cars to pass and as I was about to pull away we were hit in the rear.
I don’t really remember the car hitting us all I remember is the bang. My first thoughts were the kids are in the back. Luigi swung around to check that they were ok and The poked their heads up, happily smiling and still having a ball in the back seat.
Luigi jumped out to make sure the road was clear and then I drove over to the side of the road. I needed to get out of the car, I needed space. I walked around to look at the damage and Andy followed me. He’d lost his sunnies when we got hit and smashed his head against my seat but he was ok. Rowena tried to get out too but her door wouldn’t open so she put the seat down and climbed out the front door.
The rear side of the car had been smashed/crumpled and we couldn’t open the passenger side door. The damage followed all the way up to the roof were it was ruffled. Amazingly the captiva held up really well. Yes the outside was crumpled but the inside where the girls were sitting didn’t budge.
All I kept thinking was the kids were in the back. Josceline was right there, it could have been so much worse.
The police were there in minutes and the ambulance came too. We were all checked out and called a friend to take the kids home as well as having Andy and Rowena were dropped off at the pub.
We were hit by a man in a company vehicle on his way back from town. Our car is most likely a right off and so is his.The craptiva amazingly held up fairly well through it all and were all ok. Shaken a bit fuzzy but were all ok.
We came home and cleaned ourselves up and went out to the bowls club for dinner. I needed to be out of the house where I couldn’t think and where life was normal.
Last night I went to bed and I still had the shakes, I think it will be a while before that wears off. The kids both went to school today and Violet and I are just hanging out at home and taking it easy today.
Today I’m just glad the everybody is ok.

I can imagine any accident, big or small would leave you feeling shaken. It is great to know that the car stood up to the damange, while the outside is ruined, the most important thing, the occupants are safe. Sending you my best wishes! xox

so glad to hear that you guys are ok.
it's been over a year since that ole biddy pulled out from a stop sign in front of us and we hit her and i still slow down when driving in front of side streets with cars waiting at stop signs – not only did she fuck our car, screw my neck up even more and cause me to have a week off work UNPAID, she also screwed with my nerves for the rest of my driving life – she took away my trust in other drivers, i now think they're ALL going to pull out in front of me.
i held my breath as i read your post until you said the girls were ok. take it easy but DO get behind the wheel of ANY car sooner rather than later, i didn't want to but Guv made me, best thing he could have done for me.

Oh boy Dani! I'm so glad you are all ok! I was involved in an accident earlier in the year both the front and back of my car were damaged after I was run into from the back. It's such a horrible experience. I had the shakes for a couple of days afterwards. I think that's pretty normal. I am so relived for you that your girls are safe! Big hugs to yoU!

it is a horrible time when something like this happens.
there always is an after shock to the body and brain.
Even though there is expense involved and inconvenience for having a car off the road whilst repaired.
The upside is it is just stuff.
Stuff you can't take to heaven, stuff that can be replaced, stuff that doesn't have a heart beat.
As long as the family and you are all ok – that is what matters the most.
you take care and I am sorry you had this happen to you.
